Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. Her first appearances on Broadway included in Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her role as Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors across the stage, film and TV and she continues that award-winning project with various upcoming ones. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. This film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford returns to Broadway in the month of March 2023 with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the musical. Ashford was Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal that was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. Ashford appeared for two seasons on the CBS hit comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Some other Broadway credits for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded a Tony Award nomination. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and grew up there.
